Kiwi's New Life Bird Rescue Presents:

4th Annual Bird Lovers Expo

17th NOVEMBER 2024, 9 - 4 PM AT THE HUNGARIAN COMMUNITY CENTRE
(760 Boronia Rd, Wantirna, Victoria, 3152)

Calling everyone who loves birds!  Join us for our 4th annual expo.  Come meet bird rescues, avian vet staff, vendors selling bird food, toys, stands, bird-themed products and much much more.

No actual birds will be for sale at this expo (this is not one of those bird shows where there are hundreds of birds in small boxes).

This is an ethical event, where you will have the chance to meet and learn about rescue birds that are up for adoption and find anything and everything to do with birds.

Please leave your own birds at home.  Attendees must be human!

Patrick will be reading from his new release: Greg the Galah Superstar! Greg’s picture books are bestsellers and his latest release will be no exception. Make sure you turn up and grab a copy of his new book and don’t forget to get it signed!

1PM: What can go wrong with an egg? Early 1900s to today.

Dr Pat Macwhirter from Melbourne Bird Veterinary Clinic, Melbourne, Australia compares egg and reproductive challenges you might encounter in your birds today, and new technologies to study and treat these, with a legacy egg collection from over 100 years ago.

2PM: Using Enrichment to Prevent and Solve Bird Behavioural Problems. + Q&A

Who has a bird that bites? Psychotically screams? Plucks? Has some overly hormonal behaviours? Has separation anxiety? Has some other anti-social tendencies? In this seminar, well-known avian behaviourist, Mel Vincent discuses some simple techniques of how to set yourself up for success and prevent those bird murder plots before your bird ever gets the chance to enact them! Bring your questions because there will be a Q&A session at the end of the seminar.

3PM: Avian Vet Panel

Here’s your chance to get your veterinary questions answered! Vets from all of the main avian clinics are coming together for this one. Bring your hardest questions because you don’t get the chance to throw them at such a diverse panel of experts very often.

NOTE SCHEDULE HAS BEEN UPDATED

Please note that seminar times have been updated.  Dr. Pat Macwhirter was originally advertised as speaking at 10am and Dr. Matt Gosbell 1pm, but they have since switched times.  We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
